Windstorm and Hail - private insurance carriers, frequently include windstorm and hail in their home insurance policy. The policy will be specific about whether or not it covers windstorm/hail.
There are times when windstorm/hail is excluded from the policy offered by private insurers. Insurance Carriers will exclude windstorm and hail when the structure is too close to an ocean. When a structure can not obtain windstorm/hail coverage, the State of Texas will issue a policy specifically for these hazards. The program for the State of Texas is called Texas Windstorm Insurance Association or TWIA. Our agency together with an Insurance Carrier will provide quotes and administer the TWIA policy. Obtaining TWIA coverage often requires an inspection by a state-certified inspector. The State of Texas sets the premiums and is responsible for payments in the event of a wind or hail damage. TWIA windstorm/hail coverage can be purchased for the structure and/or contents.
